Zoom In

The new BirdLife Spring Alive! web site, which encourages children all over Europe to look out for and record sightings of returning migrants, was launched in Febraury 2006.

Taking part in Spring Alive! is very easy. Get to know the four species - Cuckoo, Swallow, Swift and White Stork – that we have chosen to welcome Spring. Go outside, look for the birds and when you see any of them, register your sightings on-line. You can then follow these Spring messengers appearing across Europe, on the Spring Alive! website, and celebrate the return of the new season!

By registering your sightings of these birds as they make their return, you will be participating in Europe’s biggest Spring birdwatching event and contributing to our knowledge of their migration. Thanks to your input we will be able to check the differences between the arrival dates every year and see how different factors (for example weather changes) influence them. By participating in our project, you can see and follow these changes.
