The following is a preliminary list of key sites for conservation (Important Bird Areas or IBAs) in the coastal lowlands that might be affected by the tsunami. The BirdLife International Asia Partnership is in the process of documenting the impact of this event on some vulnerable sites, e.g. Na Muang Krabi in Thailand, Teluk Air Tawar-Kuala Muda coast in Malaysia.
